Services for Young People

Mid & North Powys Mind’s Children and Young People (CYP) team provides services for young people aged 11 (not prior to high school age) to 25.

They work closely with high schools and colleges across mid and north Powys to support young people with their mental health.

They also have 1:1 support appointments outside of school and two support groups.  One for ages 11-15s and one for ages 16-25s.

16 - 25s Support Groups

Do you feel pressure from your work, education or friends?

Do you feel like you don’t fit in?

Do you want to meet young people like yourself in a safe and supportive environment where you can talk about what’s bothering you?

It is a flexible group so there is no need to commit yourself to anything, if you need some help or just to chat come along! We will be running different activities each week.

The poem to the right is about our 16-25s Support Group and is written by one of its members, Hannah

The 16-25s support group meets on Thursdays at The Dance Centre Elan Room in Llandrindod Wells 6:30pm – 8:30pm

Everyone is welcome.

“ Group is the highlight of my week ”

Our NEW online group for young women and non-binary meets online on Zoom on Monday evenings from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

This is a new group providing a safe and supportive, non-judgemental space for young women and non-binary to talk about, explore and recognise their emotional and mental health.

Mind’s Young People’s 16/25 Youth Group

Why did I say yes?
What if they don’t like me?
Treat me like the people who bullied me.
My hands are shaking, knees quaking
Then the tears start.
A thousand worries at once
This is all too much.
Brainless, I press the zoom link
Numb in mind, body and soul.
Only to be greeted with smiles
Two ladies who look after me,
People who treat me normally
We talk about techniques
Play games,
Hangman, pub quizzes, debates
Learning positivity.
The more I go, more my smile grows
Every week I now see friends, for a day feel my age
No longer a tear to roll down my face.
